Earlier this month, Samsung re-released last year's Galaxy Note 7 under the new name Galaxy Note Fan Edition. It's essentially the same device, but with a battery capacity reduced from 3,500 to 3,200 mAh. It also gained support for the new Bixby virtual assistant. However, the Galaxy Note Fan Edition was released in a limited run of 400,000 units, while the Galaxy Note 7 was manufactured, sold, and then recalled in much larger quantities. It turns out the remaining smartphones won't go to waste, and the company has already found a use for them.
